The current political climate has created division and tension which has silenced the voice of the people.
Most people are trying to navigate and make sense of the world we are living in, searching for answers. It was not a goal of mine to be in the political arena. But with that said, I will never be part of a self-serving, get rich, political machine. I am here to be a VOICE for the people, to hear their needs and concerns, bring that into the conversation and realize effective results. I want to end the “never ending mandates,” restore public safety, actively clean up the homelessness plaguing LA County, and to restore transparency, integrity, accountability, and trust to our county politics, including our budget.
Our elected officials have become comfortable in their positions and feel they do not need to be available to the people they serve or to hear and act on the needs of their communities. My goal is to change the status quo. I will reconnect to the people with dialogue, conversation, and exchange of ideas. Help me restore trust, integrity, transparency, and truth to the Board of Supervisors District One.
Vote Brian Smith, A VOICE FOR THE PEOPLE.
As a current active-duty Deputy, I believe in FULL AND PROPER FUNDING AND TRAINING of law enforcement personnel. The people of Los Angeles County must have the confidence and peace of mind to know that they will be safe while conducting their daily lives.
The current homeless crisis is an absolute travesty and disservice to those living on the streets. Ignoring people who fill our public streets with makeshift encampments, drug paraphernalia, and human excrement, is a humanitarian crisis like we see in third-world countries. Discovering reasons for homelessness and delivering adequate solutions are necessary. We must activate and equip ministries, churches, and the private sector to confront and solve the homeless crisis .
As Supervisor, I have an obligation to be accountable to the people and to be fully TRANSPARENT. Activities managed in the dark or behind closed doors, implies that people are unable to understand or comprehend the inner workings of our government. This is disrespectful to citizens who elected those to represent them in office. Every penny that leaves the county budget must be accountable and under scrutiny, not wasted, or awarded to conflict-of-interest contracts or used to line the pockets of career politicians. We must raise the level of accountability and proper management of the taxpayer’s money.
There will NEVER be a YES-vote from me regarding any form of mandate that violates our personal choice and body autonomy. I will demand the abolishment of any existing mandate and return “choice” to the people. I will move to appoint a Public Health Director that is qualified for this position, not a social worker posing as a medical doctor.
